67 here Monday. 40 here Wednesday with a low in the low 20s. As long as we continue to get a few nights per week with lows in the 20s or low 30s, the fruit trees should be okay (fingers crossed)

First croakers(frogs) of the year already out in the swamp croakin away. VERY early. We've had croakers for several weeks, even starting to see eatin sized bullfrogs. Turkey vultures showed up a week ago. Heard my first report of morels in the area yesterday. Have already pulled ticks...

I need to get a couple cans of black to paint the inside of my blinds. I've got some bracing and stuff that needs painting. I fully expect to see ticks all over hell this weekend. That's a big reason I've got wide trails.

No ticks found today.

Lilacs are budding out. The long range forecast looks cool enough to slow things down some, at least I hope so.

Daylillys have come and gone, morels have popped, pears are almost done blooming, crabs and apples are starting, redbuds are full on bloom. Bass have been in 2ft (or shallower) of water for several weeks.

I saw one just the other day... it came at me from behind a rock outcropping. I was caught off guard, but made a quick move to piss a little and stumble the other direction. I may have had a couple of beers before that. When I got up he was on the rock top bobbing his head at me. Pretty sure I intimidated him. More signs of spring. Overgrown asparagus and apple blooms.

It must be spring if I'm planting trees. I got 50 superstock conifer and 5 rugosa rose plugs from Univ. of ID planted this morning. I think my 300 bareroot norway spruce from Musser Forests should be here by the end of the next week, along with my pear and apple rootstock.

Ya’ll do realize that spring officially started almost a month ago. I don’t know how you guys do it.
Of course most of you think it’s hot if you are working in 70 degree temps.

Once daytime highs go over 78, I shut it all down until after deer season. The one exception is moving dirt and fall plot work.

The bugs in the Summer. It's the bugs more than the heat. If the bugs weren't so bad, I could walk around in flip flops and a tube top instead of being covered head to toe.
