I think most cell cams are similar. I can check all kinds of things on the Tactacam app and change settings. I love not having to go and physically get a card to see what’s been going on. It feels like you’re hunting with these things. I know MRI (most recent info as the drury’s like to say) will be much easier/efficient/useful with the cell cams this year. My very first camera 10 plus years ago was a cuddeback. It took nice clear pics. I hated the D battery part but it eventually wouldn’t connect with the batteries after several years of use. The big thing with the Cudde Link system is that I get ONE cell plan for $20 / month version fee. Stop and start any time. But I am going to keep mine for at least a few cameras the year around for security purposes. 7 cameras on a single $20 / month Version plan is pretty sweet. .

Yup, that is probably the best deal subscription wise. Start/stop anytime is standard I'd imagine. Is w/ Tactacam too. I'm just paying $5/mo per camera so $20 currently. I won't keep any out past thanksgiving other than 1 maybe for a month but then I pull everything.

Plots are looking good! I may have to adjust my cereal grain planting next year. August 15th might be too early. With the tiller I get much better germination than I ever did with throw and mow. Will need to adjust somewhat. I had germination this year after a week with no rain even. Getting dirt over the seed makes a ton of difference. Also need to make sure I don’t go to heavy on the brassicas when planting in a tilled plot. I’m hoping once I get my rotation set up exactly how I want it (likely next year) I’ll try and go to no till brassica planting in that half of the plot. Mow the clover/rye from the previous year right over it. Or get a crimper. I might look into purchasing a disk first. Would be faster than tilling. Just read my lips here. BEFORE you buy a roller crimper of any brand.....make sure you talk to me. I may have a deal for you. Seriously. Mr Haney / aka Foggy. Foggy, what's the skinny on the crimper? You running with your new concept?

Both? 4 ft wide and I'm running on the loader now for one pass planting/crimping but can covert it to 3 point. At some point after I got it I read that guys are getting better results drilling first then making a 2nd pass with a crimper. So far I'm 1 for 2 one pass planting/crimping in my first year with the crimper. Good results through rye/vetch and not so good through a summer crop of sorghum sudan and 6 or 8 other species but I think I drilled too deep. Time will tell but if I have to make 2 passes I'm going to be wishing I had a wider crimper.

Time will tell but if I have to make 2 passes I'm going to be wishing I had a wider crimper. I've got a six foot wide roller crimper coming....and my drill is 5 feet wide. That seems to be a nice combination for my purposes....and I have the grunt to lift and operate both those implements. I am not certain wider machines would be better for me....as I operate around allot of tree lines....and I do not want to hook that drill on a stump. As it is now....the width of my tractor will protect the drill and the roller will make a nice mulch to plant in. I have some reservations about running the combination of drill and roll crimper at the same time. That would be optimal on big acres.....but that is not me. I will likely always maintain about 10 acres of plots.....and it does not take that much time to do it as a two single operations. I think I could plant early...achieve germination and then terminate the rye and allow the light to let the "cash crops" flourish. Maybe there will be both scenarios over time and seasons? Dunno. Still "ler'nin"

This plot is likely the best I got right now. About one acre that was Impact Forage Collards, Radish, PTT, and some clover....panted in early June. Weeds over took this plot....so in mid August I mowed it somewhat high with my flail...then put down 2 qts / acre of 41% Glyphosate.....and a few days later planted with my 130# mix of ten seed types. Good rains followed and a week later I put down 100 lbs of high N fertilizer. We have had several nice rainfalls since then...almost perfect conditions. I suppose I have over 8" of rain on my plots since mid August.....and could not have timed this better. Luck is good.....Mother Nature is better. This plot is looking good for mid September following a drought. Happy Camper here.

Ten species? I must have missed the list. What did you all plant?

Ten species? I must have missed the list. What did you all plant? 100 lbs of rye, allce white clover, ladino white clover, medium red clover, impact forage collards, PTT, Delar Small Burnett, GHR, Austrian winter peas, and ?? I have posted this numerous times above in this thread. EDIT: Actually I have posted the seed rates above in the "Affordable No Till Drill" thread. Ooops - My Bad.
Cameras are up and taking names.

I think this video has some good intel on setting up these cameras. A bit intimidating to start....but becomes more intuitive in a short time.

Pretty well set up on my Cudde Link camera system now. I got seven cameras in pretty good spots throughout my land. Getting some small bucks and does....no big guys yet. still need to tweak a few cameras....but I should get a pretty good inventory at the rate I'm going.
