Foodplot or bedding cover? I expect that does and fawns will bed in here during the firearm season. About 40% of the plot is good clean corn. One area is nearly head high with grass and some corn. When I pheasant hunted hard in high school pockets of weeds inside corn fields like the one you pictured were magnets for roosters and bucks. We've always noticed that those areas tended to hold bucks more often than does for some reason.

He mostly sees does and fawns in the irrigated parts of the field. He said the bucks will bed in the non irrigated corners.

An update of one of my brassica plots planted end of July that caught a few rains. I spread some urea and rye Labor Day weekend and haven’t been back since. Lots of deer usage! August 21st September 4th September 16th This morning

My sugar beets that I planted Memorial weekend are growing and should make some food for deer.

They are round up ready. There has been some light browsing on leaves. This is the 1st time I planted them. Time will tell. They are sandwiched between soybeans and brassicas so the deer have lots of choices.

Tom- Awesome. Please keep us posted as the season goes by. I have some marestail issues with roundup, but trying to get that under control, so I can try something like this someday.

Brassica plot was seeing some consistent use in the 2nd half of Sept, but is hanging in there. Dugout that I expanded this summer filled up completely with the rain. Spread some Winter Rye on the clover mix last Saturday before the 3+" of rain came through. It is pushing up through the clover already.

I've had a trio of sandhills camping out in one of my plots. I sprayed the rye just before seed became viable so I think they are hammering the rye seed heads but there's also plenty of grasshoppers in that dead thatch they might be eating. Hopefully they move on before a bunch of rye is broadcasted into everything in a couple weeks. How are your plots looking after the Sept rains?

The poorly draining field was lush before the rains and is probably mucky still! Based of my cell cam, the sandier one looks like the dry fringe has gotten a little more growth but I cant really see any evidence of the labor day rye broadcast taking. I can see 2' tall peas or beans inside a distant exclusion cage from the cam where as they are browsed down below the oats for the most part everywhere else. Your plots look great.

Deer use of the crosstrail is increasing. I suspect it is more travel to the waterhole behind the corn than it is to the foodplot.
