They are getting a pretty dang easy start to winter this year! Hopefully all the ladies are fat and healthy and the boys are recovering well from the rut.
Lots of access to that banner acorn crop that I figured would never get eaten up.

There is still lots of corn left in the foodplots. We might need to let part of it stand another year. This sounds like the distant past.

My neighbor/ ag renter bush hogged a small patch of corn on the rental land this week. They leave it for me to watch deer from my house. The deer sure flocked to it even though there was little corn left. Then they moved to the orchard and grass in my yard(over the cesspool and drain field). If they have time, we should bush hog part of the foodplots.

With the cold and wind since yesterday, deer seem to have moved back to corn more than rye or alfalfa. If the wind dies down, it might be different.
I have lots of corn in the foodplots. I hope they clean up quite a bit.

Were the rye fields greening up a bunch with those 60 degree days?

Were the rye fields greening up a bunch with those 60 degree days? Yea they were. Deer had shifted to rye over the brown alfalfa.

I hope they clean up quite a bit. . The above statement is not quite correct, just before dark, about ten deer left the corn, crossed the alfalfa, and went to the rye cover crops. Other deer in the section were also on the rye.
