Nothing on opener. One white flag today. Going in the right direction.

Slowwwwwww. Dad saw none. I saw a doe with fawn Son saw 3 at first light yesterday, none today Nephew doesnt have a clue. His story changes every 15 minutes... my dad said that today too. I had to laugh. We have no clue what he truly saw.
Neighbor reports all the same.
Meanwhile, my cell cam at home was busy today... deer 15 times. Just yearling type bucks and baldies... but deer nonetheless.

War Zone here in Kanabec County Mn. Lol War zone it was! This is my 3rd season on the Kanabec property. I heard more shots on Saturday than the last two openers combined. The bucks were moving on Saturday! Saw 4 different bucks, two 2 YOs, one that might have been a weak 3 YO, and a 1.5 YO. There's a solid 9 pt 2 YO that i've had videos of chasing does for the last 3 weeks that walked 2' from the base of my tree directly over where I dropped my pack, vest, hat, gloves, binos, rifle and put on my heavy bibs, parka, harness before climbing the tree. Had to be a ton of scent on the ground and he didn't even twitch, just kept on going through. It'll be a miracle if he lives til next year. Had 2 neighbors close to my property shoot, assume they killed deer. The one neighbor sits the property line and on a NW wind, blows his scent right into the core of my little square 40 so the sooner they tag out, the better for me.. All of the corn anywhere near me is still standing. Hopefully it saved some deer because it seemed like a slaughter out there..

How does this year's opening weekend kill compare to prior years? probably could find it..... Considering last years total harvest was 138k,,,,, 40k for opening weekend seems AWFULLY damn low. One thing to consider, people have 24 hours to register a deer(I think). The data says thats numbers through Nov 5th(yesterday). So maybe there are a bunch yet to register yesterdays kill during the day today

I moved to my new boxblind today. Same damn buck I passed twice from the other stand just gave me another slam dunk shot at 50 yards. He's got all of 12 points counting splits and stickers. He better stop tempting damnit

The new one is pretty similar to the other 2. I do think the horizontal windows are an inch or two higher than in the older ones. They all can use some cross bracing on the legs. It's good and stable, but when the wind blows straight at you from across a lake at 30 mph there is some wobbling. Today while I was sitting in there I had the thought that I'd use the legs from my old wood ladder stands for the cross bracing. I need to get those ladders down as I don't think I'll be using them much anymore.

The one I am in the horizontal windows are 2” to low because my office chair and most don’t go down low enough. I like the long corner windows to pee out of when it’s time to dig through 6” of clothes for a 2” pecker in a hurry. It does wobble in a 30 mph wind but that is to be expected for not being cemented in the ground. I like being out of the wind and rain as I get older. Plus me and the daughter can sit together if she lets me.

I don't think there's another option out there that's equivalent for anywhere near the cost.
