There is going to be a question to reduce the length of crossbow season at the Spring Conservation hearings this spring. If passed it would be at the descretion of NRB to set a shortened season. Talk is that it would be after gun season. This wouls effect youth bow hunters who use a crossbow, along with any one under age of 65 unless you have a medical excuse signed by doctor.

Competition for a resource can be solved by limiting the tools allowed.

Honestly, I agree with Brooks. The Xbows are just too efficient and easy to kill to give that length of a season. Will it make my own hunting harder? Sure. Is it the right thing to do? Yes, I believe it is. My vertical will just get more use and that is Ok with me.

Fish limits are going to be reduced in MN because of technology making it easier to rape a lake. You either reduce limits or lessen the tools.

Competition for a resource can be solved by limiting the tools allowed. I would not have a problem if the resource was threatened. The reality is that the total buck kill for crossbow and vertical bow kill has remained steady since crossbow season came into play. The only difference is that there has been a shift of 13,000 from vertical bow to crossbow. This is why there was more crossbow buck killed than vertical buck killed. Part of the increased buck kill is the fact that crossbow has a higher percentage of clean kills so the recovery rate is much higher which correlates to a higher registered buck kill for crossbows. I would bet that if bow hunters were forced to register a buck that they knew they hit but did not recover the numbers would be different. Isn't it a hunters responsibility to use the most efficient weapon for a quick clean kill. Bottom line is that the vertical bow hunters want the rut for themselves.

It won't be long and this will happen in Minnesota. Unless you are unable to use a compound bow there is no reason for a crossbow.

You can only look at the buck numbers as available antlerless tag numbers have increased a lot in the last several years.
