This isnt the end of deer. But its not going to help deer. Mr fudd in his redneck can whack a deer at 400 yds now in farm country. Really bad for SW MN. They don’t have that many deer and cover is easy to drive. DNR is just absolutely stupid.

Your kidding yourself if you don't think your quality would be 2 - 5 times better if shotgun was the rule. Totally disagree. If you could see the deer that gets pulled out of Todd/ottertail counties in the rifle zone you'd think differently. A lot of people I know don't share the big bucks they shoot because of poaching/privacy issues. imo its Foolish to not believe weapon efficiency affects quality.

Wisconsin went to Rifles in all areas a number of years ago unless a town ordinance was in place to prevent it. It has not been an issue. In fact for a safety it has been a help. What year did it change to Rifle from Shotgun in SW Wisconsin? Rifles went statewide in WI in 2013. In CWD zones, rifles have been legal for a long time. I could use a rifle at my old place in Dane County sometime in the mid 2000s...maybe '05-'07 or thereabouts. Iowa county CWD zone went to rifles earlier than Dane as I recall.

I watched those big red river vallley farm country bucks go from kiss my ass to horns on the wall when rifles came to town.
To claim there is no real diff is ridiculous.

A lot of people I know don't share the big bucks they shoot because of poaching/privacy issues. Edit: I chose to buy in the rifle zone for the very reason in knowing that it was a more deadly and effective weapon, plus I hate tracking a wounded animal. I have land in both the a Shotgun zone and Rifle zone. Parkers Prairie/Otter Tail is Rifle. The cover is completely different. There are more woods and swamp 5 miles around my farm in Otter Tail then all of Pope County. OTC is good, not because of rifles, but because of the nasty habitat , it would be even better as shotgun. It’s a zoo on the opener in both locations. Its just not a comparison, I can assure you it will hurt my area (south of 94) We have 29 gun season days, buck survival has been getting worse ....honestly I’m 100% sure this is bad news.

I used it to stop crossbows in archery season. I allow rifles year round and the decision does not affect my goals.

Ya cause Wisconsin is kicking ass. Lowest gun harvest in 40 some years? That low deer kill can be attributed to the amount of antlerless tags that the CDAC's keep giving out due to poor metrics given to them by the DNR. What's the difference between a deer shot with a rifle or a shotgun, either way if it is a good shot it is a dead deer. Whats better a guy with a shotgun that has a hard time hitting the side of a barn shooting at several bucks maybe wounding them where they run off and die days later or using a rifle with a scope and maybe killing the 1st buck and not having to shoot at any more bucks to fill his tag.

Craig doesn't give two shits what I think. I don't blame him. If he's saying it's gonna pass easily, that would indicate to me that local chapters of MDHA (including those in W, SW, and NW MN) are going to back this plan. Since no other group has any statewide pull in this state...it's a done deal.
