Northern Pin Oak (I think) Cass County. Most of the oaks look pretty full up here.

Pin oak, northern pin oak, black oak - i could use some help brushing up on id'ing between those three. Bur and pins are dropping pretty heavy for me right now. Edge of a foodplot yesterday was littered with acorns.

Just got done cleaning up red oak acorns from the driveway and sidewalk areas around home for the second time this year. 90 gallon yard waste can each time. Average to good year.

Does anyone else have issues with squirrels demolishing the tips of the red oak trees as they bite the branch off, let the branch fall to the ground and then take the acorns. The ground under my red oak is littered with bitten off branches and it's pissing me off. I've been on a rampage this morning with my pellet gun.

My 10 and 11 year old sons would take care of your squirrel problems if you lived closer! My parents have a ton of squirrels at their place and my boys are looking forward to thinning them out starting this weekend.

What's the latest on deer activity? I can only assume that the deer are hitting the acorns as they've vacated my clover/brassica plot? I don't have a camera on my plot that's bordered by red oaks that were loaded with acorns.

I don't have a camera on my plot that's bordered by red oaks that were loaded with acorns. I've got a vid camera that I can live stream and pan/tilt on food plot that is lined with red and bur oaks. Pretty common right now to watch deer bounce between the oats/peas/clover/radish in the plot and the red oak acorns on the edges. The bur oaks are already gobbled up or rotten now. Here's a couple clips I recorded last night while watching the live stream. Seems they bounce between eating food plot, eating red oak acorns, and making scrapes under the low hanging pin oak branches.
