No booners here either....in fact I've never had one on camera here. Probably had 3-4 on cam at my old place. I think I've seen two bucks with my own eyes that would have been B&C bucks. A guy has to be happy with realistic goals. 150" here is a realistic goal. At my folks' old place in Juneau County, WI a guy could have hunted for three lifetimes and never seen a 150" buck. My place up north is like your Dad’s place for 150 inch bucks. Here where I live, my neighbor said it is hard to get a deer over 140. True, but they show up occasionally. We have had two bucks the neighbors killed that would go 160 to 170. Those are the only two I know of that were over 130 or so. They do happen here....just not to me. I'd be happy with a 120ish buck at my place. More would be a bonus. We get meat....it's all good.

I’ll be broadcasting a mix into this rye in a few weeks but for now tbe deer are digging the clover in it. This one was 40ft or so away and didn’t even mind me standing there.

For sure. Lots of activity in my plots at all times of day. Feeding lots of deer......but dont see any booner's so far. The deer sure look healthy now....copared to a month ago. I can second this thought.

If I had any trust in the forecast, I'd run out and spread turnip seed on my creek plot, then spray it next Monday.
I think I'm going to wait and see if it does actually rain. If it does, then I may spray and seed next week then mow it off the week after.

Spray next Tuesday......drilling a mix of 4 brassica and 3 replacement clovers and chicory two weeks after that. Then rolll my rye over the top. I think it's a bit early for my brassica. I'm going to use a mix of 2 Its / gly per acre and adding a pint of 24-d. Some concerns about plant back time with the 24-d.......so gonna wait for two weeks or so. Seeds are all mixed and waiting....chemicals and sprayer is ready to roll. Hard to wait. lol

Trying to actually catch a heavy rain to get things going. I've planted turnips in late June before and they did okay, but it does require adequate moisture through the summer. Forage collards would probably be a better choice. It seems throw and grow/spray and pray/whatever always takes at least another 10-14 days to get growing vs. traditional tillage.

My bigger corn plot did not germinate well, so I picked up some extra radishes and turnips. I need to check with my neighbor on carry over from his spray. I am thinking of broadcasting in early August.

I went up and sprayed my bean and rr sugar beets this morning that I planted on Memorial weekend. Have only got .46 inches of rain since mid May. The beans are only about 3 inches tall. The sugar beets are worse with little germination at all. I think if we get some good rain this weekend the beans will be ok. The sugar beets might be my 1st failed food plot ever.

1.5 inches of rain over two days and the outback corn plot looks pretty decent. Some is approaching hood high on my pickup. This small area was missed with the sprayer. I hit it with roundup and will probably broadcast some turnips and radishes in here.

Upfront cornplot had poor germination. If herbicide carry over isn’t too bad, I can broadcast some turnips, radishes and rye on a later date.

After spraying for grass and weeds this spring and taking the first cutting, my 2 alfalfa fields are now really starting to take off. I got a lot of help(and seed) from John(mobuckchaser) and a little help(lime and Fertilizer) from the coop. It took a lot of up front money and work, but I should be able to get most of that back with quality hay sold, and deer use from spring green up until early-mid winter when snow levels get deep. Really satisfied with how these fields turned out.

That looks great. Did you plant that yourself or do you rent out the field to someone? That should be quite the draw this fall.
